As United Way of Smith County celebrates 75 years in 2015, we have a lot to celebrate and to be thankful for. In 1940, a group of influential leaders in Tyler TX formed Tyler Community Chest as a way to bring people and resources together to help the needy. With a $20,000 goal these leaders had no idea that 75 years later, our local United Way would raise over 58 Million dollars and have a huge impact on local Education, Income, Health, and Crisis Intervention.
